The City of Bangalore is known for its love for music both classical and contemporary. The young and urban population has a strong appetite for contrasting styles of music, viz., Rock, Jazz and Blues. However, those who are keen to pursue their musical interests do not find many organized centers where they can learn various musical instruments systematically under the close supervision of a teacher and a trainer.

It is not enough that they learn music in such an environment, but also a find platform where they can demonstrate what they have learnt over time. It is only when one gets an opportunity to demonstrate his/her talents and skills in whatever forms of art it might be, he/she can strive towards professional excellence.

The 9th Chord Music Academy was set up to cater to these needs, and promote and encourage passion for music and musical instruments.

The Academy, which began functioning formally in 2007, is the initiative of Girish Prabhu, a highly inspired musician. An electronics engineer by education, he had immense passion for contemporary music. With total dedication and unswerving commitment to learning and teaching music, he mastered over time the two key instruments of contemporary music, the Guitar and Drums.
